Course Outcomes
General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) This course trains students to take on the role of a skilled nurse to take care of patients in hospitals, clinics or community health settings. The curriculum covers nursing and birthing practices and provides graduates with the skills to help patients give birth, care for mother and child, and support patients of all ages in their recovery. Students are equipped with end to end healthcare solutions, simple medical care, emergency care and preventive care – they serve the urban hospitals and can also cater to rural setups.
Approaches
GNM's method is a mix of classroom learning and hands on training. Students start out in classrooms where they learn about the body’s anatomy, physiology and nursing and then spend time in hospital wards and community postings practicing on people. Midwifery instruction is a key component of the program, and students are taught how to care for expectant mothers prior to, during and after birth. The subject levels out hard skills, such as anatomy or kinesiology, with lessons centered on empathy, patience and communication to help graduates win the trust of patients and their families. This combination of theory, practical work and human contact means that GNM nurses are ready to serve in the healthcare system.
