About Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI)
Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) was set up in 2005 by an amendment to the UGC Act. The mandate of HBNI is to build keen sub-surface competencies in nuclear science and engineering and act as an interface between academics at universities and technology development / application by interacting with them through its academic programmes like Masters or Ph. Physical, Chemical, Mathematical, Life and Medical & Health Sciences with emphasis on interdisciplinary research. Academic programs in the area of Applied Systems Analysis have also been listed to provide sufficient trained human resource personnel to deal with issues related to nuclear law, economics of nuclear power, Nuclear security and proliferation, IP rights and so on HBNI has been accredited by NAAC with 3.4 score as an A+ category University in 2021. In the MHRD's National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) exercise for 2024, HBNI was ranked 6th in Research Institutions, 16 in University and among 2781 institutions the rank was 27.
