Highlights The Master of Science (M.S.) by Research is available from IIT Bombay by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), the Center for Machine Intelligence and Data Science (CMInDS), and the Koita Center for Digital Health (KCDH). This program serves students heading for careers in advanced research or in R&D, with an option to move to Ph.D. programs or to highly skilled work in an industry context. Admission is through GATE, and students are covered financially (fully) under the Teaching Assistantship (TA) or the Research Assistantship by project (RAP). The M.S. program can be completed in 18 months (after possible extensions) to a maximum of 3 years. The program balances: strong research into applications; and covers topics or areas from research and landscape relating to primary disciplines of computer science and machine intelligence, along with informatics for health care.

About IIT Mumbai
Established in 1958, the second of its kind, IIT Bombay was the first to be set up with foreign assistance. The funds from UNESCO came as Roubles from the then Soviet Union. In 1961 Parliament decreed the IITs as ‘Institutes of National Importance'. Since then, IITB has grown from strength to strength to emerge as one of the top technical universities in the world.
